I am an independent filmmaker and photographer focussing on social and cultural issues. My special interest is in supporting indigenous communities in strengthening their cultural heritage, thus preserving and further developing the wealth of humanity’s cultural diversity.

I have a PhD in the area of religious studies and ethnology. I also studied filmmaking and photography at the New York Film Academy (NYFA) and at the European Institute for Design in Madrid (IED). I have lived and worked in more than 15 countries and am currently based in Bangkok, Thailand.

Recently I started to build the foundation Homer2000 which supports efforts to strengthen the intangible cultural heritage of indigenous communities. If you are interested in my work, get in contact: contact@stephankriesel.com
