How did the Himba tribe manage to survive for so long in such a harsh environment where most other human societies would collapse. Many believe that their social and family structure of bilateral descent are the key to understanding this extraordinary resilience. This structure is "enacted", celebrated and enforced in their most central ritual: the wedding ceremony.
