Rites and Feasts - Overview Photo- and Film Projects
Rites and feasts are much more than a pleasurable past time. They are the essential cultural building blocks, which keep a community together. They express the believes and practices of a society, celebrate and internalise their norms and ideals, practice their ethics - often in disguise and at the presence of gods. And - like in the example of Carnival - show what the world would look like when those norms are put on hold, at least for a couple of days.
